A little about me: My name’s Katrina, I’m 30, I’m married to my best friend, I’m an officer in the U.S. Air Force (although I will be separating in about 5 months), and I live in Las Vegas. I have been running for almost 5 years, and by far, my favorite races are ultramarathons (defined as anything beyond 26.2 miles). I finished my first 50k (31 miles) in March 2009, and since then, I have done 16 other ones, including three 100-milers (all this year). I’m not fast, but I have endurance, which is why ultras appeal to me.
I plan to use this blog primarily to post race reports. In addition to future ones, I intend to go back and find ones I’ve posted in the past, typically just on message boards, and consolidate them all here.
Another hobby of mine is cooking/baking. I don’t really like labels, but I eat very little meat and not many animal products in general. Food is what fuels my runs, so if I want quality runs that feel good, I need to be cognizant of what I put into my body.
I also like crafty-type stuff. In the near future, I will open my first Etsy shop, which will sell no-tie fleece checkerboard baby blankets. These blankets take a few hours apiece to make, but I love making them. It’s a very peaceful, calming act.
My goal in life is to make the most of every moment and try to somehow leave the world a better place than I found it.
